Hi, I’m Mandee Luers, the hands and heart behind Rural Roots Tallow Co.

I grew up in rural Ohio, where I learned early on to appreciate the simple things — fresh air, muddy shoes, playing in creeks, and a life lived close to the land. Today, I’m raising my family in Northeast Ohio with that same mindset: slower living, less waste, and finding beauty in the everyday.

When my daughter was just a few months old, she struggled with sensitive skin, and nothing on the store shelves seemed gentle enough. I wanted something truly nourishing — no fillers, no synthetic fragrances, no mystery ingredients. That search led me back to tradition and the ingredient our ancestors trusted for generations: tallow.

I started making small batches in my kitchen, using grass-fed and finished beef tallow that would otherwise be thrown away during modern processing. This idea — using the whole animal and supporting local farmers — quickly became a passion. The more I learned, the more I fell in love with tallow’s natural compatibility with skin and the sustainability behind it.

When I’m not whipping up skincare, you’ll find me hiking in the woods, tending my garden, or finding new ways to live a little lighter on the earth. Each jar I make reflects those values: simple ingredients, mindful sourcing, and nourishing skincare rooted in tradition.
